House Republicans Introduce Bill To Suspend Entry Of Illegal Immigrants Into Country

Under the lead of Texas Rep. Chip Roy, House Republicans have introduced a bill that would suspend the entry of illegal immigrants into the U.S.

“The Border Safety and Security Act of 2022” would allow the Homeland Security Secretary to suspend the entry of illegal immigrants into the country, if he determines it “necessary in order to achieve operational control” of the border, reported Fox News.

In addition, it would require entry of illegal immigrants to be suspended if the head of DHS cannot detain them as required in the Immigration and Nationality Act.

if the secretary does not follow the requirement, state attorneys general would be allowed to bring legal action against the administration to enforce it.

Those who joined Roy include Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs of Arizona, Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin, and Montana Rep. Matt Rosendale.

As the U.S. continues to struggle with a border crisis, Republicans have been pushing multiple solutions to combat rising immigration numbers.

With plans to lift the Title 42 public health order, the administration has warned that the country may see up to 18,000 migrants a day at the border.

“Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas has been allowing asylum to be the exception that swallows the rules of border security — leading to chaos and crises at our border,” Roy told Fox News Digital.

“Congress needs to step in and require DHS to turn people away if the department can’t abide by our laws and certify that all aliens claiming asylum are being detained for the adjudication of their claims,” he added.
