Amid a lawsuit from Donald Trump for campaign wrongdoing, Hillary Clinton and the DNC are also being fined by the FEC for lying about the “Russian dossier” that has since been discredited.
The Federal Election Commission claims that Clinton and the DNC have broken very strict rules regarding the reporting of expenditures on opposition research.
The Clinton campaign funneled more than one million dollars, $850,000 from DNC treasurers and $175,000 from the Clinton campaign to a law firm called Perkins and Cole for information from a research firm called Fusion GPS. Instead of being truthful, Clinton and DNC treasurers reported that the money was spent on legal services and not opposition research involving the Russia dossier.
The Washington Examiner reported The memo said that the Clinton campaign and DNC argued that they were correct in describing their payment as for “legal advice and services” because it was Perkins Coie that hired Fusion GPS. But the agency said the law is clear and was violated.
The DNC nor Clinton acknowledge that they lied or broke the law, but will not fight the FEC’s decision. “Solely for the purpose of settling this matter expeditiously and to avoid further legal costs, respondent[s] does not concede, but will not further contest the commission’s finding of probable cause to proceed,” it said.
Why so secretive? The party and the campaign were working to produce an elaborate lie to drag their political opponent through the mud. This lie would later be known as the Russia Hoax.
I’m a statement from Trump, he claimed that when the truth is revealed, the Russia scandal surrounding Clinton will make Watergate “pale in comparison”.
