Grand Jury to Arrest Trump Goes on Month Long Break – Is it over?

A Previously Planned Hiatus Delays Potential Indictment of Donald Trump

The Manhattan grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump’s purported involvement in a hush money payment to an adult film actress is unlikely to review any evidence in the case for the next month, primarily due to a prearranged break, according to an individual familiar with the matter.

If the grand jury maintains its current schedule, any potential indictment of Trump would be delayed until late April at the earliest. Although the timetable could still be altered, the Manhattan district attorney’s office has not convened the panel in quite a few days.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg, however, has the authority to request the grand jury’s reconvening during prearranged breaks if needed.

On Monday, the grand jury heard testimony related to the Trump case but will not be convening on Wednesday. Instead, it will review evidence for an unrelated case on Thursday. The panel, which typically meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, is slated to address another case next week on Monday and Wednesday. It is not expected to meet on Thursday due to the Passover holiday.

A two-week hiatus is scheduled following these proceedings, as planned when the grand jury initially convened in January. The Manhattan district attorney’s office spokesperson declined to comment on the matter.

There is no formal deadline to indict Trump, but recent events have suggested the grand jury’s activities are nearing a conclusion, particularly when Trump was invited to testify before the panel, a typical step in the final stages of a criminal investigation. Trump declined the offer.

Prosecutors are looking into Trump’s alleged involvement in a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress who claimed to have had an affair with the former president. Trump denies both the affair and any wrongdoing related to the payment.

The Grand Jury did not review any evidence this week in regards to the Trump case. The only thing that happened last week was on Monday former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker testified for a second time before the panel.

In response to the Grand Jury Trump took to Truth Social and had this to say:

“I HAVE GAINED SUCH RESPECT FOR THIS GRAND JURY, & PERHAPS EVEN THE GRAND JURY SYSTEM AS A WHOLE. THE EVIDENCE IS SO OVERWHELMING IN MY FAVOR, & SO RIDICULOUSLY BAD FOR THE HIGHLY PARTISAN & HATEFUL DISTRICT ATTORNEY, THAT THE GRAND JURY IS SAYING, HOLD ON, WE ARE NOT A RUBBER STAMP, WHICH MOST GRAND JURIES ARE BRANDED AS BEING, WE ARE NOT GOING TO VOTE AGAINST A PREPONDERANCE OF EVIDENCE OR AGAINST LARGE NUMBERS OF LEGAL SCHOLARS ALL SAYING THERE IS NO CASE HERE. DROP THIS SICK WITCH HUNT, NOW!”
