Georgia Senator Advocates for Stripping Funding from Fulton County DA Willis’ Office

Senator Colton Moore Calls for Special Session to Defund DA Willis

LISTEN HERE:

In a bold move to counter what he sees as the unjust “prosecution and persecution” of former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants, GOP Georgia State Sen. Colton Moore is calling for a special session of the state Legislature.

His goal is to strip the Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ office of state funding. Moore rightly points out that although Willis serves just one of Georgia’s 159 counties, taxpayers from across the state contribute to her office’s funding.

Shockingly, Moore finds himself almost alone in his party. Out of his 32 Republican Senate colleagues, only one has voiced support for his urgent call.

“It’s hard to soar like an eagle when you are dealing with a bunch of buzzards,” lamented Moore. He criticizes his GOP colleagues for their preference to defer to a new Prosecutorial Oversight Commission, instead of acting decisively through the legislative process.

“So they would rather trust unelected bureaucrats than the elected representatives of the people of Georgia,” Moore blasts.

Moore also expressed disappointment in Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp for failing to back his initiative. In a letter to Kemp, which Breitbart News obtained, Moore calls for an emergency session to scrutinize Willis’ actions against Trump, following the Fulton County jury’s indictment.

If the findings warrant it, Moore proposes to not only defund Willis’ investigation but to also impeach her. “America is under attack. I’m not going to sit back and watch as radical left prosecutors weaponize their elected offices to politically target their opponents,” declared Moore.

The call for an emergency legislative session can be triggered in two ways in Georgia: either by the governor or by 3/5 of both legislative chambers demanding a review. Moore’s letter to Kemp follows this second strategy.

Cliff Maloney, who oversees America First Georgia campaigns, praised Moore, saying, “Finally, a leader who is stepping up and fighting back against the epidemic of corrupt District Attorneys that are drunk on power.” Maloney called Moore “an absolute patriot” and urged every liberty-loving American to support him.

Meanwhile, a CNN legal analyst admitted that DA Willis couldn’t even put Trump on trial within the next six months due to logistical limitations.

This could extend the shadow of these allegations over Trump well into the primary season, arguably another ploy to disrupt the political process.

In summary, while Moore stands nearly alone in his party, his efforts illuminate what many conservatives view as an urgent need for action against what seems to be politically motivated prosecutions.

Given the slow pace of the legal process, as noted by the CNN analyst, one must question whether justice is truly being served or if this is yet another maneuver to undermine conservative leadership.
