The vote was split down party lines with only one Democrat voting in support of the bill.

Being that there is a Republican majority in the Senate, it the bill is expected to pass.

On Monday, the NCAA made a statement in support of the transgender athletes and announced they refused to host their playoff games in states that don’t.

They wrote, “When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination should be selected. The NCAA Board of Governors firmly and unequivocally supports the opportunity for transgender student-athletes to compete in college sports.”
