FDA Panel Unanimously Endorses Pfizer Booster Vaccine

Not long after approving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, and FDA panel has unanimously endorsed a Pfizer booster shot.

Fox News reported,  S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory panel on Friday endorsed emergency approval for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine booster shot at least six months following the second dose among people ages 65 and older and those at high risk of occupational exposure and severe COVID-19.

The vote was 18-0. The vote will now go before the FDA to issue a final decision.

The panel however also rejected the booster vaccine for people aged 16 and older. This booster will only be available to seniors.

The panel argued that older, and more vulnerable populations would benefit from the booster as they are more susceptible to luge threatening symptoms.

This leaves many with the question, how could something be safe and beneficial to someone who is 65, but not someone who is 55, or even 35.

Perhaps the FDA is prioritizing those 65 and older and will eventually endorse the booster for younger age groups as well.

This will ultimately cause people to wonder whether or not the government will attempt to mandate booster shots.
