In the year 2023, Joshua Malcolm faced an untimely end, leading to an atmosphere of intense grief amongst his family members while authorities grapple with a lack of concrete information. The absence of progress in the ongoing probe has led his family and friends to initiate a march, likely to encourage the local populace to disclose indispensable evidence which might expedite the deliverance of justice to Joshua’s bereaved family.
Officials from the DeKalb County Police department confirmed that Joshua met his end post a shooting incident that targeted his vehicle along Bouldercrest Road, proximate to the Interstate 285. The unfortunate incident transpired on the 10th day of April, 2023.
The preliminary investigation suggested that a cascade of bullets originating from a black SUV left numerous bullet holes in Joshua’s vehicle. It was also reported that Joshua was not alone in the car when the incident unfolded.
Christy Malcolm, Joshua’s mother, expresses her agony and highlights the difficulties she faces while attempting to narrate the misfortunate series of events to Joshua’s children. The perplexing queries from her grandchildren render her speechless as she admits her incapacity to provide answers to their innocent interrogations.
She says, ‘They seek answers that I don’t possess. I am clueless about the events that unfolded.’ The narrative depicting the despair of a grandmother bereft of answers to the queries from her grandchildren paints a horrifying picture.
Despite the family’s pleas for justice, DeKalb County Police appear to be at a standstill with no substantial leads or updates on the murder of Joshua Malcolm, a father of three. The department sends out a message of gratitude for any information the public might contribute towards solving the mystery.
Believing that their pleas have fallen on deaf ears, both Christy Malcolm and her sister claim they’ve received no correspondence from the DeKalb County Police since last year. Christy Malcolm expresses her discontent, stating, ‘It seems as if they view him as a perpetrator rather than a victim.’
This dismal situation has enforced a strong determination amongst Joshua’s family and friends to persist in their quest for justice and amplify the necessity of public involvement. They seek answers, justice for Joshua, and closure for his family.
According to a close friend and activist, Keith Lewis, ‘A sense of fright appears to pervade the community, a fear of potential reprisal or being branded as a traitor.’ However, he emphasizes, ‘It ceases being traitorous when the information provided works towards the aid of someone.’
In an effort to reignite the stalled homicide case, supporters have planned a justice walk at the original crime scene. The walk is scheduled for 5 p.m. this coming Friday.
As activist Keith Lewis states, ‘For Joshua’s five-year-old son to witness the community’s care is a silver lining in this cloud.’ He ardently hopes that the younger generation can glean a lesson from this tragic occurrence, that violence never presents a viable solution.
In a heartfelt plea, Christy Malcolm urges, ‘If not for me, then consider his three children waking up each day seeking their father.’ Her words encapsulate the earnest hope that someone may provide the essential information to finally close this painful chapter.
