Elon Musk, the renowned Tesla CEO, indicated he might consider legal action against media outlets following an unfortunate incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside a Las Vegas hotel owned by Donald Trump, the President-elect. This statement came in response to a suggestion on social media for Musk to sue the responsible news sources for perceived negative impact on Tesla’s brand image. The catalyst for Musk’s comment was a headline reading: ‘Tesla Cybertruck explosion in front of Trump hotel in Las Vegas results in 1 fatality, 7 injuries.’
The distressing scene was created by the unexpected detonation of a Tesla Cybertruck, filled to the brim with firework mortars and containers of camp fuel. This alarming event happened on the heels of another tragedy: a truck, unrelated to Tesla, was purposefully driven into a crowd in New Orleans’ famous French Quarter on New Year’s morning. The heinous act claimed the lives of no fewer than 15 people until police were able to stop the driver permanently.
The authorities are investigating the New Orleans incident as a potential act of terrorism, positing that the individual behind the wheel was likely not acting in isolation. As this investigation is underway, officials have managed to establish the identity of the individual who was in the Tesla Cybertruck at the time of the explosion in Las Vegas. The man has been revealed as Matthew Livelsberger, an active-duty soldier in the U.S. Army.
Livelsberger was not just an ordinary soldier; he held a prestigious position in the Green Berets, the U.S. Army’s elite special forces unit with expertise in guerrilla warfare. His military career stretched back to 2006, throughout which he progressed through the ranks and was on a sanctioned leave at the time of his untimely demise.
The Green Berets, Livelsberger’s unit, are recognized for their role in combating global terrorism through unconventional methods. Among their fundamental duties is ensuring the security of the nation by addressing foreign threats while stationed overseas.
During his service, Livelsberger had been stationed at the military base previously known as Fort Bragg. This North Carolina base is immense and is recognized as the heart of special forces operations in the U.S. Army.
When the Cybertruck exploded, it inflicted minor injuries on seven bystanders who happened to be in the vicinity. In response, Musk provided an update clarifying the unfortunate occurrence. He stated, ‘We have ascertained the explosion was triggered by oversized fireworks and/or a possible explosive device situated in the rented Cybertruck’s bed; this is not connected to the vehicle itself.’
Musk further reassured the public through his statement, noting that all vehicle telemetry readings were positive at the time of the explosion. By highlighting these facts, Musk aims to bring to light the facts about the explosive-loaded truck, in an effort to dispel any misconceptions that may have arisen about the safety of Tesla’s vehicles.
