Speaking to a packed crowd at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Dr. Phil McGraw called on Trump supporters to push back against those who intimidate or sideline individuals for their political beliefs. With just days before the 2024 election, McGraw’s message emphasized resilience and unity in the face of what he described as pervasive bullying targeting Republican voters.
“[Trump] has faced it all—impeachment, indictments, and attacks,” McGraw said. “And where is he? Still standing.” While acknowledging that he doesn’t agree with every move Trump makes, Dr. Phil underscored that backing the former president doesn’t require uncritical support. “You don’t have to love everything about someone to stand by them,” he added.
McGraw warned that open Trump supporters face threats, cancellations, and boycotts, amounting to bullying in his view. “Bullying is when you seek to harm, intimidate, or coerce someone. And that’s what’s happening here,” he stated. He argued that such behavior arises from an imbalance of power, which he claimed wasn’t present in Trump’s style, calling Trump’s interactions “debates” rather than “bullying.”
Dr. Phil closed with a call to action, urging the crowd to defend those who might face backlash. “When you say you love America, that means you love Americans,” he concluded. “You’ve got to stand with those who have become targets.” The crowd erupted, applauding McGraw’s message of solidarity and strength just days before they cast their ballots.
