One Democratic representative is drawing some criticism after using a rude hand gesture during the annual Congressional Baseball Game.
California Rep. Linda Sanchez was seen flipping off the Republican dugout during the sixth inning, while Republicans were leading 5-0.
She was pulled for a pinch runner after a lead-off walk, and as she jogged back to the Democrats’ dugout, Sanchez raised her left hand to make the offensive gesture.
It is unclear if she was provoked before flipping off the other team.
Republicans went on to win by a final score of 10-0.
After the game, Sanchez was repeatedly called out for her behavior on social media.
Newsmax host Benny Johnson tweeted “California Democrat Rep. Linda Sanchez gave the Republican dug out the finger right before her team got BODIED 10-0 by the GOP in the congressional baseball game”. “What a nasty, disgusting slob. Perfect representation of the modern Left”.
Former Congressman Mark Walker of North Carolina said “Congresswoman Linda Sanchez flipping off Republicans in a charity game to support the Boys and Girls Club of DC. Sad!”
“Rep. Linda Sanchez is classless. Giving the middle finger to the GOP Baseball team is hateful and divisive,” tweeted author Nick Adams. “Sanchez should be banned from all future Congressional baseball games and permanently stripped of all committees”.
Outside of the game, police arrested at least three climate change protesters attempting to disrupt the event, reported Daily Mail.
