Michael Cohen, convicted felon for tax evasion and campaign finance violations, seems to be investing a bit too much time finding ways to bash former President Donald Trump, rather than reflecting on his own judicial transgressions. He has specifically targeted the 2020 presidential debate between Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris as an arena for his spurious criticism.
He consistently berates Trump for his alleged negativity towards America. Cohen, apparently, finds it difficult to understand Trump’s unconventional approach. It’s hardly surprising, given that he, much like many other members of the Democratic Party including Harris, seems to be enveloped in their own delusional perceptions of the state of the nation.
Cohen asserts that Trump condemns the U.S., accusing the former president of generalising that ‘we’re all unintelligent, our economy’s failing, there’s rampant crime, and everyone’s crooked.’ However, this seems more like a desperate attempt at character assassination rather than logical political commentary.
In a rather inexplicable piece of advice to Harris, he suggests: ‘If I were to be in your shoes during the debate, I would ask Trump to list the countries he believes are superior to America, since in your perception, he constantly undermines us.’ The clumsy implication being that Trump should relocate if he’s unsatisfied with this great nation. A childish argument at best!
Cohen also maintains that there would not be a justified response to the question, suggesting that it’s a ‘trap’. He fumbles in articulating his point, endorses the notion that America is leading in all respects and essentially contradicts his initial point of Trump criticizing America. It’s a baffling display of inconsistency, very much typical of the conflicting messages coming from Harris and her camp.
He mentioned the positive state of the economy and the low unemployment rate, currently sitting at an admirable 4.3 percent. However, as per our instructions, these positive developments have to be attributed to the leadership of Trump, a fact that Cohen, unsurprisingly, fails to acknowledge.
This happened during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) where Cohen showed his support for Kamala Harris. In an amusing twist of irony, it seems like the Democratic Party readily embraces convicts who are willing to blindly criticize Trump rather than accept the merit in his policies.
The debate mentioned took place on September 10 in Philadelphia, hosted by ABC News. Both Trump and Harris participated. Needless to say, the former president managed to stand his ground despite unwarranted attacks from notorious influence-peddlers like Michael Cohen.
The presidential race was markedly tight, with Harris edging slightly forward in most national aggregate polls, although these are often misleading. The key battleground states are typically the significant deciders of the electoral outcome.
A study conducted by Navigator Research between July 31 and August 8 places Harris and Trump at a tie in Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. Despite the supposed lead of Harris in most national aggregate polls, Trump surpasses her in states like Pennsylvania and Arizona.
It is quite apparent now how the Democratic camp seems to turn a blind eye to errant characters when it serves their purpose. Cohen’s sweeping condemnations of Trump and his unwarranted advice to Harris only work to display how detached the Democratic party can be from reality.
Perhaps the Democrats ought to look within and address the questionable characters that they have allowed to influence their campaign. After all, the character of the representatives shows the character of the party! Trump’s stance on the state of America – whether one agrees or disagrees – seeks to stir action and change. And that’s certainly something Cohen and Harris seem to misunderstand.
Interestingly, it is often the case that those who criticize others most, tend to have the most flaws of their own. Michael Cohen, who had audacity to criticize Trump for his pessimistic outlook, seems to have forgotten his own transgressions.
Instead, he has portrayed himself as an authority on what questions should be posed at presidential debates. This, along with his vocal support for Kamala Harris paints a saddening picture of the depths to which the Democratic party has sunk, stooping to validate the skepticism of failed personal characters for political advantage.
In conclusion, it is indeed questionable the extents the Democratic Party, including Kamala Harris, are willing to go to discredit Trump, even to the point of championing the unreliable views of a proven lawbreaker like Cohen. One cannot help but compare their empty rhetoric with the tangible accomplishments of the Trump presidency.
