During a rally organized by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) on February 11, 2025, several Democratic lawmakers used explicit language to express their opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies. Representative Maxine Dexter (D-OR) addressed the crowd, stating, “I don’t swear in public very well, but we have to f*** Trump.” She then added, “Please don’t tell my children that I just did that.”

Other Democratic representatives also made similar remarks during the event. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) commented, “We are going to beat—I was going to say ‘f***,’ but no. I’m not going to say that. We are going to beat and we’re going to pull him [Trump] down.” Additionally, Representative Mark Pocan (D-WI) stated, “F*** Donald Trump and Elon Musk.”

The rally was part of ongoing protests by Democrats and federal employees against the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce government spending and restructure federal agencies. Elon Musk, leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) project, has been a focal point of criticism due to initiatives aimed at cutting wasteful spending and offering buyouts to federal employees.

These explicit expressions of dissent highlight the escalating tensions between Democratic lawmakers and the Trump administration as policy changes continue to be implemented.
