After being fired from CNN over involvement in Andrew Cuomo’s scandal, Chris Cuomo is claiming his boss knew about the entire situation.
In a recent statement, a spokesperson for Cuomo revealed that CNN President Jeff Zucker knew Chris Cuomo was involved in his brother’s investigation.
On Sunday, the spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal that “They were widely known to be extremely close and in regular contact, including about the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother”.
“There were no secrets about this, as other individuals besides Mr. Cuomo can attest,” the spokesperson added.
CNN, however, denied Cuomo’s claims and said “He has made a number of accusations that are patently false”. The network told the WSJ that “This reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor”.
Zucker had backed Cuomo for months while people called for him to be fired, but he made the decision to let Cuomo go when it was revealed how extensively the host tried to help his brother.
Chris Cuomo also faces new allegations of sexual misconduct, which influenced his firing.
Cuomo has been criticized for his statements of support for victims of sexual harassment while he was being accused by a former colleague.
