CDC Extends Mask Mandate For Travel 15 More Days

Government officials do not have to mask up while attending Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, but you do while on public airlines.

The Biden CDC has extended its travel mask mandate for an additional 15 days, despite protests from airlines, and CEOs calling for the mandate to end.

The administration has justified its actions by citing recent spikes in COVID-19 cases. At the same time, experts have come forward claiming that the new Omicron sun variant mimics spring allergies, so much so that the CDC released a chart on Twitter that helps identify the illness over benign allergies.

If the new variant mimics spring allergies why should anyone be concerned with it? Omicron was already in and of itself fairly non-lethal. Its new sub-variant seems to behave quite the same, very transmissible, but even less deadly than before.

CDC spokesperson Kristen Nordlund said, “CDC continues to monitor the spread of the Omicron variant, especially the BA.2 subvariant that now makes up more than 85% of U.S. cases.”

“It makes no sense that people are still required to wear masks on airplanes, yet are allowed to congregate in crowded restaurants, schools and at sporting events without masks, despite none of these venues having the protective air filtration system that aircraft do,” Airlines for America wrote in a letter to the President.

The letter continued, “Now is the time for the Administration to sunset federal transportation travel restrictions including the international pre-departure testing requirement and the federal mask mandate that are no longer aligned with the realities of the current epidemiological environment.”
