Notorious rapper Cardi B has alleged that former President Donald Trump’s Super Bowl visit gave her an unpleasant experience which resulted in damage to a pricey pair of designer shoes. The 32-year-old musician expressed her dissatisfaction on social media after the major football event, attributing a scratch on her $3,000 Christian Louboutin heels to the wide-ranging security arrangements for the ex-president. Breaking from precedent, 78-year-old Trump happened to be the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, hosted in New Orleans’ renowned Caesars Superdome stadium.
The security measures were so comprehensive that they even affected celebrities and VIP guests, much to the aggravation of Cardi B. She exclaimed on seemingly being moving around more than expected, ‘It was maddening because of Trump’s presence at the Super Bowl with all his security around. It gave us quite a hard time.’
The rapper then brought up her damaged heels in the live video, a pair accentuated with spikes, displaying evidence of wear to her audience. The shoe, associated with her popular song Bodak Yellow’s ‘red bottoms’ lyric, appeared to be the notable Christian Louboutin’s Estepic Sandal Alta, a black peep-toe platform sandal embellished with silver spikes, which retails for $3,295.
Cardi B proceeded to blame the damage, a walk she had to undertake due to the interruption of cart services by the Secret Service at a certain juncture of the night, on Trump. With a trace of indignation in her voice, she said, ‘Look at the state of my shoes, they cost me three bands ($3,000). All of this because of Trump, which makes me like him even less. I almost can’t stand him now.’
Attempting to extract some form of compensation from the situation, Cardi B playfully suggested that Trump should walk back certain actions as a way of making amends to her. This could be considered as nothing more than a desperate attempt to salvage something from her plight, potentially indicting Trump in a scenario he had no control over.
Additionally, Cardi B finds herself in the midst of personal turmoil. Her marriage to another musician, Offset, appears to be on the rocks as she underwent a divorce process. The couple, who is parents to three children – daughter Kulture, six, son Wave, three and a baby girl born in September 2024 – is hitting a rough patch after nearly seven years of being married.
Cardi B moved ahead to end her marriage with Offset in July of the previous year. As a public person, she could be looking to gain sympathy from the audience by highlighting her personal difficulties. A spokesperson for Cardi B emphasized that the divorce is not based on the churning rumor mill, indicating that this has been brewing for a while.
