Actress Candace Cameron Bure is seeing a positive change in Hollywood, noting that more people are openly expressing their faith without the same fear of being canceled. Speaking at the recent Movieguide Awards, Bure shared her optimism about the cultural shift.
“I feel like people are just a little less afraid of being canceled now that they can share their faith openly or whatever their opinions are, even if they’re not congruent with some other people’s opinions,” Bure said. “I love seeing this in our country, and I’m hopeful. I’m very hopeful.”
Her remarks come after years of hostility toward traditional values in entertainment, where public figures expressing Christian beliefs have often been met with backlash. Bure herself faced criticism in 2022 when she spoke about prioritizing traditional marriage in storytelling. The response from left-wing activists was swift, with accusations of bigotry aimed at her and the network she partnered with.
Reflecting on those challenges, Bure said she remained firm in her faith and relied on scripture to stay grounded. “Whenever we go through trials, we can actually find joy in them,” she explained, referencing a Bible verse about perseverance.
Her comments signal what many conservatives see as a growing rejection of cancel culture, where people are pushing back against the idea that certain viewpoints must be silenced. Bure’s continued success in faith-based entertainment, despite past criticism, is further proof that audiences are embracing content that reflects their values.
As more public figures speak out without fear, Bure remains hopeful that the shift will continue, leading to a culture that respects and welcomes different perspectives—especially those rooted in faith.
