The California government seems to have sabotaged legal gun owners just after the Supreme Court struck down a long-standing gun control measure in New York State
NBC KCRA 3 reported, Personal information for Californians who were granted or denied a concealed and carry weapons permit over a period of 10 years, as well as the personal information of people associated with several other gun dashboards, was disclosed online this week, the state’s Department of Justice confirmed.
The California Department of Justice is working on reaching out to those affected and providing “credit monitoring services”.
The information leaked included personal details of everyone who has applied for a concealed carry, including celebrities. The information was allegedly available for less than 24 hours but could have easily been copied.
The data included full names, driver’s license ID numbers, gender, age, race, and even criminal history. The website also indicated whether any specific person was granted or denied a permit between 2011 and 2021.
The States Attorney General says that he is “deeply disturbed and angered” but it’s hard to believe that such a mistake could be made by accident and an investigation into the matter has been launched.
It’s unclear at this time exactly how many Californians have been affected.
