Liberal rocker Bruce Springsteen has once again jumped into the political arena, delivering a glowing endorsement of Kamala Harris while taking aim at Donald Trump, calling him “the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime.” In a recent Instagram video, Springsteen, a long-time liberal voice, praised Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, for what he described as their commitment to a “vision of inclusivity” for all Americans, regardless of race, class, or political views.
Springsteen’s endorsement of the Biden administration’s policies and his harsh criticism of Trump should come as no surprise to conservatives. He’s been campaigning for Democrats for years, even going so far as to narrate ads for Joe Biden in 2020. In his video, filmed in a nostalgic American diner, Springsteen spoke of Harris and Walz wanting to “grow the economy in a way that benefits all, not just the few like me on top.” The irony is rich, given that Springsteen has benefited from the very free-market capitalism Trump champions and Harris opposes.
Predictably, Springsteen leveled more harsh words at Trump, attacking his commitment to the Constitution, democracy, and the rule of law. He even went so far as to say Trump “doesn’t understand what it means to be deeply American.” But many conservatives see this as out-of-touch celebrity elitism—Springsteen, worth millions, is far removed from the everyday struggles of working-class Americans, especially those who saw their livelihoods improve under Trump’s America First policies.
Springsteen warned that the 2024 election is “one of the most consequential” in history, suggesting that the country hasn’t been this divided since the Civil War. What he fails to mention is how the left, fueled by the radical policies of candidates like Harris, has pushed this division by attacking the values and freedoms that have long made America great.
Springsteen’s speech ends with a familiar progressive appeal to “freedom, social justice, and equal opportunity,” but conservatives are left wondering—where is the freedom when the left constantly pushes for more government control, higher taxes, and woke social policies that infringe on the rights of individuals and businesses?
Springsteen’s endorsement of Harris and his disdain for Trump isn’t surprising—he’s been vocal about his liberal views for years, calling Trump a “moron” in 2016. But as he heaps praise on career politicians like Harris, conservatives must stay focused on the real issues at hand: the erosion of American values, the encroachment of big government, and the protection of the Constitution. Trump’s fight for individual liberty, economic freedom, and national sovereignty is far more in line with what many Americans cherish than Springsteen’s vision of a progressive utopia that doesn’t exist for the working class.
Conservatives should push back against the influence of celebrity endorsements like Springsteen’s. Instead, we should continue to stand for policies that put America first, restore economic strength, and protect the freedoms that Springsteen claims to champion but seems all too willing to hand over to big government bureaucrats.
