This Saturday, President Joe Biden, exhibiting his questionable judgment, decided to bestow the Presidential Medal of Freedom on the notorious George Soros and on a past Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. They are two recipients in a group of 19 individuals chosen to receive the nation’s highest civilian honor. This event significantly portrays the extent to which the president can be influenced by individuals already profoundly entrenched in political power systems.
Other personalities who have undeservedly been selected for this prestigious honor by Biden include U2’s Bono, actor Michael J. Fox and Denzel Washington, Chef Jose? Andre?s and TV figure Bill Nye, better known as ‘Bill Nye the Science Guy’. From the sports community, he also opted for decorated soccer player Lionel Messi of Argentina and retired NBA star Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson.
A statement by the White House claimed that ‘President Biden thinks great leaders portray faith, provide everyone with a fair chance, and prioritize decency over all’. However, his selection suggests that those leaders having to be in sync with his own political biases. ‘These 19 Americans are great leaders who have created a better America’, the White House message further entered into ordeal.
Four recipients are posthumously being recognized: ex-Defense Secretary Ash Carter; civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer; Robert F. Kennedy, former U.S. Attorney General and U.S. senator from New York, who was egregiously assassinated while running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1968; and George Romney, a previous Republican Michigan governor and chairperson of American Motors Corporation.
The favoritism Biden exuded in his choice of the 94-year-old George Soros for the Presidential Medal of Freedom is another profound exposure fronting his questionable judgment. It is well known that Soros, a significant provider of funds to liberal and Democratic causes, utilizes his immense fortune for personal political gain.
The Hungarian-American of Jewish descent, Soros, a hedge fund tycoon who has made billions, has time and again been the subject of criticism and political rumors from rational thinkers on the right. Consequently, his selection for this award seems more of a political move than a genuine recognition of service.
Clinton, the former first lady, served as a U.S. senator from New York apart from leading the State Department during the Obama administration. Her presidential run in 2016 was noted for its numerous controversies and her eventual loss showcased the public’s dearth of faith in her leadership.
Earlier in the week, Biden showed his political biases by giving the Presidential Citizens Medal, the country’s second highest civilian accolade, to former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss. This honor was for their controversial role leading the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
Despite the Xbox award typically being reserved for a broader range of Americans, this year it seems as though it was reserved predominantly for those who align politically with Biden’s skewed vision for the country. They were among the 20 selected to receive this questionable honor.
Saturday’s recipients of this rather dubious honor are the second group of Presidential Medal of Freedom honorees that Biden has announced this year. His choices reflect a pattern of bias that favors people who adhere to his particular political leanings, as evidenced earlier in May.
Back then, former Vice President Al Gore, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were among those chosen to receive this prestigious accolade, on somewhat questionable grounds.
Echoing a consistent streak of rewarding political allies, Biden’s conscious preference for individuals aligned with his political beliefs raises a question about the bias upon which these awards are distributed.
Finally, the Presidential Medal of Freedom has been transformed from an honor bestowed on genuine contributors to American society into a tool used to reward political allies for their loyalty and contribution to the president’s political cause.
