Biden-Harris Administration Loses Track of More than 300,000 Migrant Kids

The Biden-Harris administration seems to be drowning in a quagmire of their own making, unable to keep meaningful track of the massive influx of unaccompanied minor immigrants. A damning report from the Homeland Security Inspector General reveals that the whereabouts of a disturbing number of migrant children remains unknown, reaching tens of thousands. Despite receiving little attention from the media that once clamored over such issues, the fact remains that over 32,000 migrant juveniles failed to attend mandated court dates between 2019 and 2023.

Unfortunately, the mentioned figure is potentially just the tip of the iceberg. The report highlights that over 291,000 minor migrants had not received a notice to show up in court in the first place. Thus, we are staring at the disturbing possibility that more than 300,000 unaccompanied children have evaporated into the air, virtually unnoticed and unaccounted for.

The implications of such developments are daunting to say the least. The Inspector General’s report suggests these migrant children who have failed to appear in court are at a significantly higher risk of falling prey to human trafficking, exploitation, and forced labor. This grim reality is a direct consequence of the Biden-Harris administration’s failing policy.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) seems to have missed crucial opportunities for making contact with these unaccompanied children after they are released from the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) custody. The report asserts that by skipping issue notices to appear in court, ICE has inadvertently reduced their chances of verifying the safety of these children.

In a bizarre twist of misplaced logistics and lack of communication, ICE sometimes even ignores informing HHS when these migrant children fail to make their immigration court appearance following their release from HHS custody. The key agencies seem to be operating in the dark with no idea of the magnitude of the crisis they are supposed to handle.

It appears the lack of an automated process for information exchange is the culprit behind this chaos. A stark contrast to the promises of technological prowess propounded by Biden’s campaign, the current administration seems to have regressed to pre-digital era methods of information sharing.

The sheer volume of unaccompanied migrant children has skyrocketed since Biden decided to swing the border gates wide open. With 113,000 children entering the country unaccompanied in 2023 alone, ICE seem to be struggling to keep up.

It’s not as if the outcry over missing children is certain to provoke any response. The naivety of the Democrats and their loyal media organizations, who are turning a blind eye to this crisis, provokes questions about their direct contrast to their behavior during Trump’s administration.

Under Trump’s leadership, they broadcasted outrage when the Health and Human Services failed to confirm the whereabouts of about 1,500 kids in a three-month period in 2018. Now, witnessing the disappearance of numbers that dwarf those figures under Biden-Harris, they maintain their criminal silence.

Over a three year period under Trump, there were 54,000 cases where the whereabouts of children could not be confirmed. Shockingly enough, in just two years under Biden, that number has escalated to 85,000. Yet the left refuses to acknowledge the glaring failure of the weaker border policies they support stringently.

Adding to the grim scenario is the silence of Kamala Harris, the so-called border czar. She has not proposed any changes to the Biden border policies which have evidently failed to keep track of child migrants, let alone any significant revisions to remedy the crisis.

Harris steadfastly continues to claim that her administration is maintaining a ‘tough’ stance on the border issue. It seems clear that a vote for Harris, in this matter, is a vote that ends up placing numerous already vulnerable kids in increased peril.
