Biden seems to think that when class is in session, the students in the classroom essentially belong to the teachers.
Biden told teachers, “They’re not someone else’s children, they’re our children, and they are the kite strings that literally lift our national ambitions aloft,” in an attempt to dismiss concerns about what students are actually being taught during the school day.
The simple truth is that those children are someone else’s. They’re in school Monday-Friday but ultimately go home at 2 pm every day to be raised by their parents or guardians. A teacher is not tasked with raising students, only instructing them with information necessary to function in society.
“You have heard me say it many times about our children, but it is true. They’re all our children. And the reason you are the teachers of the year is that you recognize that,” Biden said, uttering a seemingly half-baked thought and dismissing the family unit. “They’re not somebody else’s children. They’re like yours when they’re in the classroom.”
These comments come as parents fight to reserve their right to teach their children about the bees and birds themselves rather than having sexuality, gender, etc. meshed into the curriculum for students below 3rd grade.
