In Atlantic City, automated license plate reader technology played a key role in a series of arrests, as well as the recovery of a taken car and a gun loaded with ammunition. The vehicle was under the operation of David Ringgold, a man with a multitude of active arrest warrants standing against his name.
Ringgold, oblivious to the tightening net, carried on steering his vehicle through the city, treading the path along Atlantic Avenue. His movement did not go unnoticed, as his car set off several alerts on the series of automatic license plate reading machines positioned throughout the area.
Ringgold’s car was eventually cornered by law enforcement officers at the junction of Atlantic and Vermont Avenues. Although the initial arrest was not straightforward, as Ringgold endeavored to mislead the police with invalid informational claims. Despite his efforts, they fell flat, and Ringgold found himself cornered and taken into custody.
In the aftermath of the arrest, officers pursued a deeper probe into the situation, which permitted them to secure a court-issued permission to examine the vehicle closely. As a consequence of this search, they unearthed a loaded gun within the vehicle, which significantly emphasized the seriousness of the initial arrest.
There was an additional person in Ringgold’s company during his arrest, later identified as Amanda Hoss. She initially attempted to guide the investigators astray by offering misleading information. However, as the investigation advanced, her deceit unraveled, and her true identity came to light.
Hoss now faces charges for several crimes as a result of this arrest. Additionally, she has wide-ranging active warrants standing against her name. Owing to the numerous crimes she’s implicated in, the authorities are presently in pursuit of her.
Another notable incident occurred just days after the first, in the morning hours of September 25. This time, the automated license plate reader system detected an incoming vehicle into Atlantic City which had previously been reported as stolen.
Identifying the stolen vehicle was pivotal in the operation of the early morning on the 25th. The effectiveness of the automated systems in Atlantic City once again was evident, as they are a crucial part of law enforcement’s arsenal for maintaining public safety.
