As Cities Worked To Defund Police, Black Murder Rate Rose Dramatically

Americans claiming to value black lives marched through the streets of the nation’s largest cities and wreaked utter havoc, demanding that police departments be defunded.

Fox News reported, Murders across the board spiked by nearly 30% in 2020 compared to the year prior, according to FBI data, marking the largest single-year increase in killings since the agency began tracking the crimes. Among Black Americans, the number of deaths spiked by more than 32% compared to 2019.

In 2020, there were 2,457 more murdered black Americans compared to the previous year, and 2,898 more black Americans were killed than white Americans.

Black Americans still experienced a higher raw murder rate in 2020 compared to 2019 despite the white murder rate increasing by 21%, and the white population is much larger than the black population.

The murder rate for both demographics experienced a similar change following the 2015 riots related to the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson and Freddie Gray in Baltimore. Before brown was killed, black murders were on the decrease.

These deaths and riots caused the masses to support defunding the police. Unfortunately, local governments did explore solutions to minimizing police forces, this even trickled down into smaller towns and cities ultimately causing the murder rate to shoot up.

Not to mention, the constant riots of 2020 spread police resources thin, making it much easier to get away with crime
