New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she would like to sell her Tesla after Elon Musk teased her on Twitter last month.
In an interview with Bloomberg published Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez said she bought a Model 3 Tesla in 2020 because it was “the only EV [electric vehicle] that could get me from New York to Washington on like one, or one-and-a-half charges”.
Now, AOC says “I would love to switch”.
Last month, Musk teased her to “stop hitting on me” after the Democrat tweeted about “some billionaire with an ego problem,” though she claims she was referring to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
“He’s a billionaire. I could care less what he thinks,” AOC told Bloomberg.
On Thursday, Musk posted a survey asking “Who do you trust less? Real question”. The two options were politicians and billionaires.
76% of the more than 2.3 million people who voted in the poll said they had less trust in politicians.
Musk then said “@aoc I dare you to run the same poll with your followers”.
One user asked if Musk was “picking on” the congresswoman for saying she wanted to ditch her Tesla, to which he responded with the wide-eyed and laughing hysterical emojis.
Musk has recently upset liberals and Democrats with the announcement of his plan to buy Twitter and his criticisms of the Democratic Party, which he called a faction of “hate and division”. He also tweeted that he plans to vote for the Republican party in the future.
