The event had been organized by a chapter of Young Conservatives of Texas at the college.

Founder of the UNT chapter of YCT Kelly Neidert was not sure where all of the protesters came from, but suspects they might have seen an advertisement from social media.

Reportedly, there were hundreds of protesters that interrupted the vigil to chant and drown out the handful of students present.

A notice was posted online saying “Fascists are organizing in your area”. It was supposedly directed to members of Antifa near the college. “Tonight the young conservatives have invited groyper influencers & white nationalists such as Lance Johnston to a pro life ‘vigil’ in supporting christo-fascist abortion legislation,” it read.

Neidert spoke to Fox News, saying she and the other students were caught off-guard when they saw how many protesters showed up. They had only been expecting 10-20 people.

She reported that many protesters followed students, harassing them and telling them to kill themselves. “They harassed us, they were throwing things at us,” she said. “They were chanting things. They brought all sorts of instruments that they were playing to drown out whatever we were saying. They brought their megaphones, they brought whistles,” she added.

In videos of the protest, Antifa members can be heard yelling “F*** your God!” and one woman claimed she “loves sacrificing children”.

This is not the first time YCT demonstrations have been vandalized or attacked. Last year, students at the University of Texas at Austin placed pink flags on campus to represent the number of babies aborted each year in the United States. Hours later, the flags were all gone.

Neidert says she fears for her safety on campus, where she often gets flipped off by those that recognize her. “I think they just really hate anybody who doesn’t agree with everything that they believe,” she said.
