Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown recently visited 10-year-old Andre “Tre” Howard III at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, bringing along the Lombardi Trophy to lift the young fan’s spirits. Tre had been hospitalized after heroically shielding his sister from debris during a plane crash in northeast Philadelphia on January 31, 2025.
During the visit, Brown spent quality time with Tre, who was reportedly overjoyed and momentarily speechless—a rare occurrence for the typically talkative boy. Brown also facilitated a video call with his teammate, running back Saquon Barkley, further delighting Tre. Tre’s mother, Lashawn “Lala” Hamiel, expressed her gratitude in a heartfelt Facebook post, thanking Brown for his kindness and for fulfilling his promise to visit her son.
Tre sustained a severe head injury from the crash debris and underwent emergency brain surgery. Upon regaining consciousness, one of his first concerns was whether he had missed the Super Bowl—a testament to his dedication as an Eagles fan. His father, Andre Howard Jr., recounted the incident, highlighting Tre’s bravery in protecting his sister during the accident.
Brown had previously acknowledged Tre’s heroism on social media, calling him a “hero” and pledging to visit him after the Super Bowl. True to his word, Brown’s visit provided a significant morale boost for Tre and his family during a challenging time.
This act of kindness underscores the profound impact athletes can have off the field, bringing hope and joy to fans facing adversity.
