Abbott To Send Buses Of Migrants To DC

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that bus charters would be offered to take undocumented migrants to Washington, D.C., as border checkpoints struggle ahead of the removal of Title 42.

While states along the border struggle to manage the flow of people attempting to enter the United States, the Biden administration plans to lift the Title 42 immigration order in late May.

At a news conference, Abbott announced multiple measures to protect his state and combat the anticipated influx of migrants this spring.

“To help local officials – because communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden Administration – Texas is providing charter buses for these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off to Washington, D.C.,” he said Wednesday.

“We are sending them to the United States Capitol where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border,” Abbott added.

Abbott also signed an order directing the state Department of Public Safety to conduct “enhanced” inspections of vehicles crossing into the U.S. from Mexico, reported Fox News.

In addition, officials said they would begin “increased military activity” on the southern border and use razor wire in low-water crossings.

“Securing the border does not come cheap,” Abbott said. “Securing the border would cost Texas nothing if the federal government was doing its job, but because Joe Biden is not securing the border, the state of Texas is having to step up and spend Texas taxpayer money doing the federal government’s job”.

“Over the course between today and next week. Texas will continue to evaluate, press, and oppose the Biden administration’s open border policies and announce additional actions next week to respond to these unprecedented illegal border crossings,” Abbott explained.
