Stephen King Returns to Social Media, Slams Trump and Musk

Renowned horror novelist Stephen King has made a remarkable reappearance on the social media sphere, mere three months post his abrupt exit. In late 2024, King, 77, had castigated the platform as exceedingly volatile and had purged several of his posts. The wordsmith, recognized for his electrifying novels ‘It’, ‘The Shining’, and ‘Carrie’, had leveled criticisms previously at Elon Musk, the owner of SpaceX, 53, and the incumbent US President – Donald Trump, 78.

Seemingly, the stirring return hints at Trump and Musk, the freshly appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency, enduring their names on King’s reproach list, the hiatus of three months notwithstanding. Upon his revival on the platform, King, in his ingress tweets, whimsically inquired if his absence was perceptible.

Stephen King’s subsequent tweet launched a salvo against President Trump and Musk. ‘Just wanted to communicate that Trump personifies a traitorous, Putin-admiring individual!’, wrote the decorated horror author. ‘Goes double for Elon!’, he continued. The association of Trump and Musk has amplified notably post Trump’s triumph in the late 2024 elections, inducing some to term Musk as the ‘right-hand man’ of Trump.

During a recent interview broadcasted, Musk, in Trump’s proximity, publicly expressed his affection for the President, and professed his conviction of the President being an honorable person. ‘Needless to say, the President and I have logged considerable time together, and not once did I perceive any action of his to be cruel or incorrect’, declared Musk.

King, post his exit from the platform, sustained his activity on other social media outlets, where he carried on his tirade against Trump and Musk, insinuating their ties with Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

The controversial novelist stated, ‘The title of President-elect can’t be attributed to Musk. He’s not an elected figure. Further, his birth in Pretoria renders him ineligible for the presidential office.’ King professed that Trump doesn’t truly hold the reins, defying his official position. ‘Musk is the one pulling the strings. I believe it worth repeating.’

Since the inception of Trump’s first Presidential tenure in 2016, charges of an undisclosed alliance with Putin and Russia have been incessantly lodged by Democrats and those celebrities who traditionally lean democratic.

In the build-up to the 2024 US Presidential elections, King was perceived as a vocal advocate of Kamala Harris’ campaign, albeit unsuccessfully. He shared, ‘This will be my last post before the Election Day: If you cherish democracy, cast your vote for Kamala Harris’. Admittedly, his pleas seemingly fell on deaf ears.

Historically, Trump first tasted victory against Hillary Clinton in 2016, but succumbed to Joe Biden in the subsequent 2020 election. It was his staggering win against Harris, which led to his second term post the 2024 Presidential vote.

King marked his comeback to the social media on the same day as the premiere of the horror movie ‘The Monkey’. The director, Osgood Perkins, adapted it from a short story written by King in 1980.

The creative venture, a blend of comedy and horror, has been met with accolades from critics. The movie has currently clinched an applaudable 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes soon after its screening.

Theo James, a budding James Bond aspirant, portrays identical twins Bill and Hal in the gory film. This spine-chilling narrative takes a sanguinary turn once the twins stumble upon their father’s antique toy in the attic.
