In a recent interview with Morning Wire, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) defended Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for their efforts to eliminate wasteful government spending. Jordan criticized Democrats for attacking Musk’s initiatives, stating that instead of addressing unnecessary expenditures, they target the individual exposing them. He emphasized that elected officials, not career bureaucrats, should make key governmental decisions, reflecting the will of the 77 million Americans who voted for President Donald Trump.

Jordan’s comments come amid increased scrutiny of Musk’s role in the Trump administration’s cost-cutting measures. Recently, Democratic leaders protested in Washington, D.C., labeling Musk’s involvement as a “hostile takeover” of government financial systems. Additionally, a federal judge in New York temporarily blocked DOGE from accessing Treasury Department data after 19 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit expressing concerns over data security.

Despite these challenges, Republican leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), support Musk’s efforts to reform government spending. Johnson highlighted the administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and uncovering previously hidden federal expenditures. Jordan concluded by praising Musk and his team for their transparency, stating that their platform effectively informs the American public about government operations.
