In a strategic move to expand its presence in the burgeoning podcast market, Fox Corporation has acquired Red Seat Ventures, a digital media company renowned for producing content with prominent conservative figures such as Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and Bill O’Reilly. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Red Seat Ventures offers a comprehensive suite of services, including production, distribution, and marketing support for creators. The company will operate independently within Fox’s Tubi Media Group, which manages the free streaming service Tubi. This acquisition reunites Fox with several former Fox News personalities who have successfully transitioned into the podcasting arena.
Paul Cheesbrough, CEO of Tubi Media Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition, stating, “Consumers are increasingly looking to get their information, insights, and entertainment directly from the voices and brands they trust across these platforms.” He highlighted the potential to scale content across various genres, including sports, news, and entertainment.
This move reflects Fox’s recognition of the growing influence of podcasts and online video, particularly among younger audiences. Notably, during the 2024 election cycle, podcasts played a significant role in shaping public opinion, with President Donald Trump’s appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” being credited with helping him reach a younger demographic.
Founded in 2015 by brothers Chris and Kevin Balfe, Red Seat Ventures has built a strong reputation for supporting high-profile conservative influencers. Chris Balfe expressed optimism about the partnership with Fox, stating that it would allow the company to “expand the services we provide to our creators, while continuing to maintain the independence and integrity of their brands.”
This acquisition aligns with Fox’s broader strategy to diversify its media offerings and adapt to changing consumer preferences in the digital age.
