In addition to border enforcement, ICE has ramped up operations in sanctuary cities, where local officials had previously resisted federal immigration laws. In just one week, more than 7,300 individuals were arrested, many with criminal records or pending charges related to violent crimes.
“ICE isn’t playing around,” Homan added. “We’re going into cities where criminals think they can hide under the protection of leftist local officials, and we’re taking them off the streets.”
Sanctuary Cities Face Federal Pressure
Homan didn’t hold back when discussing the challenges posed by sanctuary cities, which have been a thorn in the side of federal immigration efforts. “Sanctuary policies don’t protect communities—they protect criminals,” Homan said. “By resisting cooperation with federal agents, these cities are putting their residents in danger.”
He warned that the federal government would continue deploying ICE agents to sanctuary cities and that local leaders obstructing enforcement could face legal consequences. “We will do what is necessary to enforce the law. And if you’re aiding and abetting illegal activity, you may face legal action.”
Voluntary Departure Program Urged
Homan also encouraged undocumented individuals to leave voluntarily to avoid detention and deportation. “Those who are here illegally should know that we are ramping up enforcement daily. Voluntary departure is their best option before it’s too late,” he said.
Restoring Order at the Border
The administration’s actions have included the completion of several hundred miles of border wall left unfinished by the Biden administration, the deployment of advanced surveillance technology, and the hiring of additional border agents. These efforts have significantly reduced cartel activity, including human trafficking and drug smuggling.

Homan emphasized that the Trump administration is not interested in temporary fixes or symbolic gestures. “This isn’t just a show of force; this is a sustained campaign to secure the border for good. Our message is clear: If you enter illegally, you will be caught and deported.”
