Biden and Harris Fumble: The Federal Payroll Balloons to Record Levels

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ inept handling of the federal payroll witnessed an unprecedented expansion in their term, surpassing the growth rate of any other era since the 1980s. It’s startling to note how these two contradictory aspects have come into being simultaneously, that despite their uncontrolled hiring expeditions, the federal workforce as a percentage of total employment remains staggeringly low.

Throughout the brief period between Biden and Trump’s administration, the federal bureaucracy bloated by about 4.4%, as per the data furnished by the Labor Department. This number corresponds to a massively inflated federal civilian workforce that now consists of over three million employees, including the Postal Service.

Such an egregious increase in the size of the federal workforce starkly contrasts when you consider the growth under Trump’s administration. The Biden-Harris gluttonous approach to hiring has resulted in slower growth rates compared to private sector payrolls within the same timeline.

Critics speculate that their hiring spree may be compensating for their administration’s lack of strategic planning and cohesive strategy. A troubling fact remains that even after their unthoughtful expansion, the federal government accounts for a mere 1.9% of total employment.

This is a significant decrease from the over 3% reported during the 1980s. It’s a clear testament to the Biden-Harris regime’s gross inefficiencies as they lame duck their way through administrative conundrums.

The incoming administration aims at drastically reducing the federal workforce which has grown alarmingly under Biden’s poor economical judgment. Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-chair of what is being called the Department of Government Efficiency under the new administration, has discussed eliminating an astonishing 75% of the current workforce.

This bold objective has been laid out in pursuit of achieving reductions in spending of up to $2 trillion. While the goal of cutting down the bloated bureaucratic structure under Biden resonates with many, the challenge remains finding these extensive financial cuts without causing unwarranted service depletions.

Despite these significant challenges, many concur with the view that the recent frenzy of mindless hiring is unsustainable and counterproductive. Admittedly, the federal workforce is necessary but it must be managed strategically and not used as a political tool by the likes of Biden and Harris.

Max Stier, president of the Partnership for Public Service, a think tank, noted, ironically, that the size of the federal workforce is echoing a pattern from the past. Interestingly, America finds itself grappling with a federal workforce similar in heft to that from the 1960s.

What truly irks logical minds is Biden and Harris’ distorted narrative of a ‘thriving’ federal workforce, while the blatant truth points to its inflation causing a downward spiral effect.

The current administration’s denial of their poorly executed and ideological hiring spree has led to a public misconception of a topsy-turvy growth of the federal workforce. Contrary to their whitewashed portrayal, the reality remains that under Biden and Harris, the federal workforce is not sprouting, but bloating.

Their approach to governance only disturbs the already precarious balance in the economy and burdens taxpayers with avoidable expenses. It’s more evident now than ever that their reckless decisions and narratives lack both transparency and accountability, drawing a discouraging picture of their term.

Hence, a vast section of the population patiently awaits the upcoming administration’s promise of reining in the uncontrollable expansion of federal bureaucracy sewn by the clueless Biden-Harris administration.
