A string of repeated arrests within barely a few days unfolded in New Hartford, revolving around the same individual involved. The saga began on the afternoon of January 6, when law enforcement officers from the New Hartford Police Department were called to Commercial Drive. An alarming situation was reported, indicating activity best described as menacing.
The reporting party was in the midst of driving, with a passenger by their side, when they noticed a white truck next to them, portraying strange behavior. Several erratic functions of the vehicle caught their attention. The awareness heightened as both vehicles found themselves together at the halt of a traffic signal near the entrance to Sangertown.
As they awaited the change of lights, the victim looked towards the white truck. To their dismay, they spotted the male occupant appearing to brandish what resembled a gun in their direction. The unexpected sight prompted immediate alarm and prompted the victims to hastily vacate the spot and place an emergency 911 call.
Launching an instant search, the police force was able to identify and locate the suspect from the described vicinity. Along with the suspect, officers secured two imitation firearms from his possession. The man, who was 56 years old, found himself facing multiple charges including misdemeanor counts of menace and illegal possession of a weapon.
Court proceedings loomed over the suspect as the release was facilitated with appearance tickets. These tickets necessitated his presence at the Town of New Hartford Court at an undetermined, subsequent time to answer for his alleged actions. Yet, the narrative didn’t end there, as another incident soon came to light involving the same individual.
In addition to the menacing incident, the Sheriff’s Office also highlighted the suspect’s involvement in a matter related to the possession of stolen property. In this case, law enforcement attention was garnered a couple of days later, in the wee hours of January 8. On this occasion, officers responded to an occurrence on River Road.
Reports suggested that a truck had unceremoniously ended its journey, crashing into a mound of snow. Post-incident analysis led deputies to believe that the implicated driver, our recurring suspect, had been navigating the roads at a pace beyond the safe speed limit given the conditions. His negligence resulted in the vehicle veering off track and ending up in a snow embankment.
Despite the vehicular incident, the individual at the center of it all reportedly remained without injury. However, peelings off the investigation revealed factors that amplified the suspect’s predicament. It was indicated that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended New York State driver’s license.
To add weight to the transgression, it was found that a leisure vehicle, a camper, was hitched to his truck, a piece of property further proven not to be owned by him. Assistance from the Police Department facilitated the identification of the rightful owner of the unlawfully attached camper, whom they discovered was completely oblivious to the theft of their property.
In light of the emerging facts, law enforcement took another course of arrest for the suspect. This time, a serious offense decorated his charge sheet. Particularly, he was indicted with a felony count of criminal possession of stolen goods.
In addition to the stolen property charges, the suspect was issued multiple traffic citations. Six different tickets sparked from the traffic incident, all linked to various infractions borne out of the snowbank collision incident. This racked up the tally of charges against him, including a serious criminal offense along with several traffic law violations.
Just like the previous incident, this arrest too culminated in the release of the suspect. Appearance tickets were once again issued, with instructions for him to respond to legal charges arising both from the stolen property incident and separately, the dangerous traffic violations. The string of serious charges that the suspect now faced would have to be addressed in court.
