Moicano Alleges UFC Shielding Pimblett from Match-Up

Ex-UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, expressed curiosity as to why the showdown between Paddy Pimblett and Renato Moicano has not been confirmed yet. His question was directed towards Moicano who responded with a daring assertion – the UFC is keeping the Liverpool native safe from him. Moicano voiced his puzzlement saying he found it hard to comprehend why the match hadn’t been set in motion yet.

Moicano asserts his belief that he would crush Pimblett, drawing on his victory over Benoit Saint-Dennis as evidence. According to him, UFC’s reluctance could be due to the fear of Pimblett experiencing a similar fate. He recalls how his persistence and robust attack obliged the match officials to terminate the combat event, owing to BSD’s deteriorating condition.

Reinforcing his confidence, Moicano adds that if he were to face Paddy, the result would be destruction and the UFC is fully aware of this. Yet, he balances his aggressive depiction with recognition for Pimblett, characterizing the potential poster boy as captivating and an otherwise competent fighter.

Further, Moicano shared a rumor he came across, suggesting Pimblett’s potential opposition against BSD. He voiced that in his judgement, such a duel would be beneficial for both parties, thereby somewhat validating his conjecture.

Given the apparent dissolution of the Moicano-Pimblett contest, Moicano is now tasked with charting his course ahead. Currently placed 10th among UFC lightweight warriors, he has shown interest in observing the imminent Islam Makhachev versus Arman Tsarukyan bout at UFC 311 and would like to challenge the victor.

Moreover, Moicano will be stepping into the octagon against Beneil Dariush in the same event. If he manages to demonstrate an impressive performance, he might launch himself into contention for the championship.

A crucial reference point here is that Khalil Rountree has given the current titleholder, Alex Pereira, a fierce and exceptional competition, stretching him more than any of his previous rivals. This gives Moicano the motivation to also put his best foot forward.

The MMA’s lightweight category is a hotbed for intense rivalries. In a recent change of events, Featherweight champion Ilia Topuria publicized his decision to transition to the lightweight class and took a shot at Charles Oliveira, calling him out for a combat challenge.

Considering that Oliveira stands next for a shot at the title, Topuria’s proclamation could complicate the situation. If Oliveira and Topuria square off for the top contender position, that might allow ample breathing space for the reigning champion before his next title fight.

This development opens up a potential pathway for Moicano. With the champion preoccupied for a while, Moicano might, given his consistent performance, find himself at an opportune juncture to contest for the championship.
