A resident of South Hempstead found himself on the wrong side of the law after being accused of assaulting a woman with his vehicle during a dispute in a parking lot in Oceanside last Saturday afternoon, according to Nassau law enforcement authorities.
The man identified as John Ardolino, age 41 and living at Fern Street, reportedly made contact with a 28-year-old woman with his car. The woman had been attempting to take a picture of his license plate following an altercation in which Ardolino tried to physically attack her.
The incident took place in the parking lot located in a strip mall along Long Beach Road, as law enforcement sources reported to the press.
Based on the police report, Ardolino was said to have used his Nissan’s horn aggressively towards the woman and even obstructed her Jeep from leaving a parking spot just past 1 p.m. on the said day.
Subsequently, Aldorino reportedly alighted from his car and proceeded to approach the woman’s vehicle. Police records state that he pounded aggressively on the woman’s window.
Making matters worse, he is purported to have forcibly opened her car door, seized the woman’s arm, and attempted to hit her with a closed fist, as outlined in the police report.
The woman, who had exited her Jeep with the intention of photographing Ardolino’s license plate, was then unexpectedly hurled from the hood of Ardolino’s vehicle. This occurred after Ardolino allegedly made a sudden motion with his vehicle that impacted her, according to the police.
After purportedly homelessaulting the woman with his vehicle, Ardolino then proceeded to drive off, effectively leaving the scene of the incident.
Following the confrontation, the woman, whose identity was withheld for confidentiality reasons, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. She had to receive medical attention for injuries to her neck and back, as publicized by local law enforcement.
Police authorities later confirmed that Ardolino was apprehended and formally accused of several offences as a direct result of this reported altercation.
In fact, Ardolino now faces charges of second-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment. This is in addition to a charge of third-degree menacing, further suggesting the seriousness of the situation.
Moreover, Ardolino was also accused of fleeing from the scene of an accident, intensifying the list of charges against him.
Law enforcement officers explained that the aforementioned charges were in direct response to the severity and nature of the actions Ardolino allegedly carried out that Saturday afternoon.
Nassau police revealed that Ardolino is slated to appear before the First District Court located in Hempstead. His hearing is scheduled for Sunday morning, where he will respond to the charges formally lodged against him.
While the unfortunate incident continues to be the subject of ongoing investigations, it serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers and the importance of maintaining personal safety during confrontations in public spaces.
