Doug Emhoff’s Representative Dismisses Misconduct Allegations

Doug Emhoff

A representative of Doug Emhoff, who holds the title of ‘Second Gentleman,’ has washes away speculation on Thursday regarding past allegations where Emhoff was said to have maltreated his previous partner and possibly others. Semafor, in a recent newsletter declared that a source close to Emhoff has dismissed claims from the Daily Mail, an infamous news outlet in the UK that stated on authority that Emhoff, under the influence of alcohol, had harshly manhandled his former girlfriend in 2012. This incident was reported to have occurred during the Cannes Film Festival when Emhoff presumed his partner was enacting some romantic antics with another man.

Emhoff’s spokesperson, however, conveyed to Semafor that the Daily Mail’s account was fundamentally ‘incorrect,’ doubling down that any first impression of Emhoff being violent towards a woman was completely ‘erroneous.’ With events in line for the upcoming days, Emhoff is billed to address several campaign gatherings on both Friday and Saturday.

The crux of the Daily Mail’s allegation was built on the testimonies of three separate acquaintances who gave a hearsay account that Emhoff’s previous girlfriend, described only as ‘Jane’ had recounted her experience of the disturbing event not long after it had played out.

‘Jane,’ a flourishing attorney based in New York, preferred to keep her identity undisclosed primarily due to worries with respect to Emhoff. Their paths had crossed on an online dating platform and they were a couple for about three months at the time of the supposed unruly episode.

Not only did the report accuse Emhoff of the assault, but it also provided some backing in terms of evidence, linking him to the woman in question. It included a snapshot of the pair, albeit with the woman’s identity carefully hidden, and further validated the claim with their joint travel plans and electronic mail communication giving insight into their 2012 vacation in Nice, France.

It is noteworthy to recall that it was the same outlet, The Daily Mail, that broke the news in the early days of August about a chaotic end to Emhoff’s first marriage. The media outlet suggested that the relationship met its end when Emhoff had an affair with the nanny to his kids, leading not just to the breakdown of his marriage, but also to the nanny bearing his child.

In continuation of the Emhoff saga, the Daily Mail’s recent report on Wednesday also linked the allegation of assault against him to another revelatory tidbit. The piece mentioned a reliable source that claimed that Emhoff had eventually arranged a settlement with the nanny, amounting to a substantial figure of around $80,000. It further mentions a supposed NDA, which he had the nanny endorse.
