In case famous personalities determine the results of the 2024 presidential elections, then Donald Trump might have to prepare himself to accept defeat. The line-up of famous individuals expressing their support for a candidate publicly seems to be dominated by those backing the Democrat candidate, present Vice President Kamala Harris. On the other hand, the Hollywood star who showed the most support (until now) for Trump revealed his endorsement on a Saturday, which appeared uninspiring and was devoid of enthusiasm.
Zachary Levi’s political ideologies have been a topic of discussion for quite some time now, frequently casting a shadow on his career as an award-winning actor. His reservations about life-preserving vaccines, doubts about SAG-AFTRA strikes, and his show of support to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have made headlines. Moreover, his latest portrayal as Shazam, a renowned DC superhero, saw an unexpected fiasco at the box office. Levi appeared to shift the blame of this unfortunate failure towards the studio’s promotional strategies and Dwayne Johnson, another DC superhero.
When RFK Jr. chose to withdraw his participation in the presidential race, the actor renowned for his role in Chuck found himself in a predicament. A few years back in 2020, he sent out a controversial tweet stating, ‘Though I don’t support or admire Trump, I find his demeanor lacking empathy and narcissistic, harsh, and inconsiderate.’ But current events show that the rules of the game have changed. When JD Vance, despite calling Trump ‘America’s Hitler’, becomes his vice-presidential nominee, it’s evident that anything is possible.
Consequently, RFK Jr.’s decision resulted in Levi extending his supportive stance towards Trump, joining a list of endorsers that include Jon Voight, Roseanne Barr, and the well-known Hulk Hogan. However, unlike these other followers, Levi’s endorsement seemed at best reluctant.
The evidence of his half-hearted support was visible during a rally in Dearborn, Michigan which was touted as the ‘Team Trump’s Reclaim America Tour’. Hilariously identifying himself as ‘Shazam’, Levi expressed, ‘I always wished to endorse a politician whose ideologies mirror mine and those desired in a presidential candidate. This year, Bobby Kennedy seemed to fit the bill and I believed he was the perfect fit.
Levi further added, ‘However, ideal circumstances are a luxury we don’t have in the current world. We live in a fractured society, troubled by those who are steering it towards disaster. But we can’t let that happen, can we?’
‘We are here to reclaim our nation, to restore its glory and nourish its health,’ he declared from the platform. ‘And hence, I stand by Bobby, as I do with Tulsi, and with everyone else who supports President Trump.’
Levi continued, ‘Because in the binary choice we have, I am certain that President Trump is the best candidate. I believe he would successfully guide us through these challenging times, leveraging the support from personalities like Robert Kennedy Jr. and the former representative Tulsi Gabbard.’
