Colorado’s Aurora police recently addressed the public in light of a sensational video that appeared to show a group of heavily armed Venezuelan migrants trying to forcibly enter a local apartment block. An official briefing was subsequently shared through the Aurora Police Department’s certified platform late Friday. Interim Chief of the police, Heather Morris reassured the public stating that there wasn’t a total gang takeover of the concerned housing complex.
The video in question shows a number of men, brandishing firearms and what looks like a scoped rifle, attempting to intrude an apartment in The Edge at Lowry residential area. No plausible rationale has yet been given for this action. The group is suspected to be Tren de Aragua, otherwise known as TdA, a notorious transnational gang established in Venezuela.
The notorious TdA gang, as per reports, has a considerable force of 5,000 members and operates under the slogan, ‘real until death’ or as more authentically known, ‘real hasta la muerte.’ With some elements of TdA identified in Aurora, the local police have been diligently gathering evidence to prove that the gang is implicated in several crimes committed in the area.
The Aurora Police Department’s official statement shared on their official channel stressed, ‘We recognize the TdA’s presence in Aurora; however, it would be premature and inappropriate for the city and the department to draw conclusions or divulge specifics about any particular incident or detail our strategic and operational plans at this juncture.’
The police agency further observed that initial inquiries indicated that the alleged episodes of TdA activity in Aurora were sporadic rather than systematic. The New York Post has credited the TdA gang with more than 100 crimes throughout the United States.
In relation to a shooting event that occurred on July 28, Fox News Digital received confirmation from the Aurora Police Department that they had apprehended the alleged leader of TdA, known as ‘Cookie Monster.’
The police station released a public plea, urging all citizens, particularly those in immigrant communities, to contact their local law enforcement agencies and report any crimes perpetrated against them. The department insisted that it was crucial for these individuals to come forward and asserted its position against victim silence.
The Aurora mayor’s office, led by Mike Coffman, announced on Friday that it has embarked on a process to cleanse the apartment blocks reportedly dominated by TdA. Mayor Coffman shared on his Facebook profile that the city’s legal team was in the process of preparing the necessary legal documents to ask for an emergency court order to restore the apartment blocks to a ‘criminal free’ status.
Aurora’s legal recourse would allow them to brand these properties as a ‘Criminal Nuisance,’ which would empower a municipal judge to issue an order that returns these buildings back to the owners’ control. Approval of this court order would be a significant step forward in addressing the concerns raised over local Venezuelan gang activity.
Simultaneously, an established law enforcement task force will persist in its operations to disrupt and apprehend these alleged Venezuelan gang members. Mayor Coffman expressed strong conviction in the strategy of shutting down these invaded buildings and preempting any future occurrences.
Victims of these crimes were advised to report any criminal incidents anonymously to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers by dialing 720-913-7867. The strategy is intended to encourage reporting while respecting victims’ privacy concerns.
Despite the ongoing unfolding of events linked to the TdA gang, the Aurora Police Department has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety and peace within the community. Its proactive approach in managing this situation clearly indicates determination and readiness to safeguard Aurora from any potential threats.
The collaborative strategy between the police, the mayor’s office, and local law enforcement, shows a commitment to comprehensively address the issue of this gang activity. By drawing together resources and making use of legal mechanisms, Aurora’s leadership aims to resolve this matter swiftly and unequivocally.
The Aurora police department continues to conduct an in-depth investigation while maintaining open communication channels with the public. The transparency in their approach provides assurance to Aurora’s residents that their law enforcement is dutifully handling the situation.
This event serves as a reminder of the enduring resilience and dedication of law enforcement, who work tirelessly to keep their communities safe. Aurora’s community can be reassured that every effort is taken to resolve the situation and maintain a peaceful and safe environment for all residents.
As this story continues to develop, the Aurora Police Department emphasizes their dedication to transparency, assuring the public that any significant updates will be communicated promptly. Though Fox News Digital sought comments from the department, an immediate response has not been provided to this date.
