Joe Rogan Calls Out MSNBC for Portraying Misinformation

Joe Rogan is seen in the commentary booth during the UFC 220 event at TD Garden on January 20, 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Joe Rogan, a well-regarded podcaster, expressed his dismay over MSNBC’s actions late this July. Rogan found himself taken aback by a video snippet posted by the news network that seemingly portrayed him commending Vice President Kamala Harris, though his praise was in fact directed towards former Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard.

The misleading clip was circulated on MSNBC’s TikTok channel. Subsequently, the cable network issued a note stating they had pulled down an earlier version of the post which erroneously suggested Rogan was predominantly discussing Vice President Kamala Harris, clarifying that he was actually referring to Tulsi Gabbard. Their maneuverings with the original video sparked a wave of disbelief and surprise among viewers, as reported by The New York Post.

In a questionable turn of events, the contentious clip featuring Rogan was removed from the MSNBC platform. The clip had been manipulated to give the impression of Rogan lauding Kamala Harris, where he actually exhibited esteem for Gabbard and her accomplishments.

In this excised excerpt of the Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan was heard admiring Gabbard, extolling her as a ‘strong woman who served overseas twice… She’s everything you want.’ The tactfully trimmed video clip published by MSNBC made it seem as if these approving words were about Vice President Kamala Harris rather than Gabbard.

Rogan decided not to pursue legal actions against MSNBC, but he did draw attention to their questionable practices. He pointed out that the audiovisual content had been selectively edited to distort the facts and present a distorted narrative to their audience.

Rogan’s contempt for MSNBC’s actions stem from their gross misrepresentation of his comments regarding Gabbard’s military service. As per Rogan, his praise was for Gabbard’s military experience, a commendable feat that differed from Vice President Harris’s political journey.

Rogan voiced his disappointment and frustration over MSNBC’s actions, criticizing their apparent disregard for reality in pursuit of sensationalized news. He lamented over the fact that they misattributed his comments about Gabbard to create a favourable narrative about Harris, while ignoring the actual truth of the matter.

Underlining his genuine disappointment, Rogan expressed that MSNBC’s primary aim was to disseminate a skewed narrative to a large audience instead of committing to accuracy, suggesting a careless attitude towards journalistic integrity.

The renowned podcaster found himself at the center of misleading media narratives earlier this month as well. Inaccurate reports sprung up claiming that Rogan had endorsed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for being the United States President, even though he had only expressed admiration for the independent candidate.

The false narrative of Rogan’s endorsement of Kennedy burgeoned following Rogan’s remarks praising Kennedy’s novel approach towards politics, deviating from the common disruptive practices of the ruling right and left-wing politicians who engage in obfuscation and deception to advance their own agendas.

In response, Rogan made a clarifying post on platform X which stated, ‘For the record, this isn’t an endorsement. This is me saying that I like RFK Jr as a person and I really appreciate the way he discusses things with civility and intelligence. I think we could use more of that in this world.’ This reveals a perspective that values open dialogue and informed discourses.

Continuing his declaration, Rogan expressed his awe for President Trump’s resilience and fighting spirit. He appreciated how Trump fearlessly raised his fist and urged to ‘fight!’ after getting shot, perceiving it as an epitome of American indomitable spirit, a reflection of courage deeply admired by conservatives but he did not miss to clarify that this statement was not an endorsement of any kind.

While Rogan’s views are invested in civility, intelligence, and a stalwart spirit, he made it clear that he hadn’t endorsed any candidate for the 2024 elections. His focus revolves around constructive and enlightened conversations rather than merely falling into political affiliations.

Furthermore, he cautioned his followers against relying solely on him for their political information, underlining his role as a commentator rather than a political advisor or analyst. He maintains his stance on facilitating intelligent discourse and respectful dialogue in all his engagements.

In the shadow of misleading representation and half truths, figures like Rogan continue to advocate for transparency, dialogue and standing up against manipulation of truth for personal gains. The incident with MSNBC serves as a jarring reminder of the need for integrity, accuracy and adherence to truth in today’s fast-paced, narrative-driven news environment.
