Seminole County Murder Suspect Apprehended in Houston

A fugitive implicated in a homicide case in Seminole County was seized on Friday in Houston, thanks to the efforts of the Texas Rangers. John Nolte II, who was wanted based on a warrant issued on the same day in Seminole County, was taken into custody – as confirmed by District 22 District Attorney Erik Johnson.

Mr. Nolte II is on the brink of being charged with grave felony accusations for murder and conspiracy, both of which are tied to the tragic demise of Jacob Washington in May 2023. Washington, a 33-year-old man, vanished on May 12, 2023, only to be found five days later in deplorable, decomposed condition on a pathway near an oil field that connects to Old Highway 270.

Johnson made references to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) Crime Scene Unit’s substantial involvement. He noted that the unit processed the crime scene vigilantly, gathering crucial material evidence that played a key role in the progress of the case.

The resultant inquiry was a product of the collective work of Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police and the investigative team from the District 22 Criminal Investigation Unit. Their combined effort built a strong investigative foundation that eventually led to the issuing of an arrest warrant against John Nolte II.

Currently, Nolte is under the jurisdiction of Fayette County, Texas, held in remand as he awaits extradition back to Oklahoma to face the looming charges. The subsequent procedural move will involve presenting formal charges of murder and conspiracy against Nolte, which Johnson indicates to be expected in the coming week.

Johnson took the opportunity to emphasize that all suspects, including John Nolte II, are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. This statement underlines the essential principle of the justice system, where determinations of guilt should be made based on evidence and legal proceedings.

The complexity and scope of the investigation were addressed by Johnson. Since the moment the crime was uncovered, the investigation has not faltered. He commended the effort and dedication of multiple law enforcement agencies whose cooperation made it possible.

In the pursuit of justice, the District 22 District Attorney’s Office stands resolved. Their aim, as Johnson reaffirms, is to ensure that justice prevails for the deceased, Jacob Washington, and to offer closure for his bereaved family.

Johnson expressed a heartfelt gratitude towards all participating law enforcement bodies. He lauded the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police, the Texas Rangers, and others from various agencies for their keen dedication and cooperation.
