Authorities are hoping to uncover the identities of three suspected looters who are known to have intruded into a residential garage in a condominium to steal bicycles and some work equipment. A recent burglary watched by the Hollywood Beach Police Department is currently under investigation, which came to light last week.
Security footage showed the trio, seeming to include two men and a woman, engaged in a shared venture outside someone’s condominium to breach the perimeter of the garage area. A certain resident, Bob Spiegel, drew attention to the plight of his immediate neighbors and how this criminal activity affected them by showcasing to 7News how the bicycles were illegitimately taken from the garage through a video he had.
Interestingly, this is not an isolated incident in the building as Spiegel disclosed that this unfortunate incident represents the second time the residence has had to grapple with a burglary. Actions were taken after the first unfortunate incident occurred– surveillance cameras were installed both inside and outside the condominium.
It was one of these newly installed surveillance systems that exposed how one of the male suspects spent a significant amount of time breaking into the garage. The break-in procedure seemed to last for more than a few minutes, illustrating the level of brazenness and daring the perpetrators had for their illegal deeds.
The lost bicycles were disclosed to belong to a man named Marc Serrao. Serrao was away from home when the theft took place and subsequently discussed the situation with 7News representatives over a telephone call. Coupled with his bikes, some tools were also reported missing post the felons’ intrusion into the private garage.
Once they secured access to the inside of the garage, the alleged criminals quickly moved to execute their plan. It didn’t take them long to succeed in removing the bicycles and tools from the garage, displaying an unnerving efficiency in their actions.
Surprisingly, the suspects did not seem concerned about hiding their identities from the surveillance measures. This negligence resulted in the cameras capturing clear and potentially identifiable footage of the suspects. In response, local law enforcement is hopeful that some members of the public may be able to use these images to help identify the perpetrators.
The Hollywood Beach Police Department is actively invested in apprehending these suspects before they move on to conduct a similar break-in. If their identities are recognized by individuals, they are being encouraged to contact the Hollywood Police to share the information.
Members of the general public who have additional knowledge or potentially useful information about the crime are urged to reach out to the Broward County Crime Stoppers. Their contact number is 954-493-TIPS.
People who may be hesitant to get involved for fear of their identities getting disclosed, they are reassured by the authorities that it is possible to remain anonymous throughout the process. The police have measures in place to ensure the confidentiality of the informers.
In an effort to motivate public cooperation, the authorities have also put forward a reward. Consequently, if the information provided leads to a successful arrest, the informer may become eligible to receive a reward.
The reward set by the authorities is no small sum. The Broward County Crime Stoppers can offer up to $5,000 as a token of gratitude for the information that leads to the capture and prosecution of the criminals involved in this robbery.
