Grisly Discovery in NYC: Human Remains Found in Apartment, Linked to Burnt Remains Outside City

An ongoing investigation is underway in New York City after the discovery of several human body parts in an apartment on the 6th of August, thought to be linked to charred remains found in a remote shopping cart outside the city.

In the early morning hours of August 5, law enforcement officers were summoned to a fire reported under a bridge at the edge of Mt. Vernon, according to a statement from the Yonkers Police Department.

After the flames were extinguished, members from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Police found a motionless body, as detailed in the official statement.

Upon inspection, police in Yonkers concluded that the body, discovered in a shopping cart on the sidewalk, was probably set on fire right at the spot where it was found. This was asserted in the aforementioned police statement.

As the investigation unfolded, it became increasingly clear to authorities that the New York Police Department would be more suited to spearhead the investigation, citing that the found location of the remains was but a disposal site.

Authorities hypothesize that the actual scene of the crime lies elsewhere, potentially in an apartment located in the Bronx borough of New York City, corroborated by reports from NBC New York and ABC 7 NY.

The victim has not been identified publicly yet, but investigators surmise that the individual was possibly murdered in the Bronx apartment, and the body was then loaded into a shopping cart.

This cart was allegedly moved by the still unidentified suspects via train to Yonkers, as per the claims made by ABC 7 NY. Specific parts of the body were missing, namely the hands, feet, and teeth, according to information from the authorities.

This missing anatomy has apparently hampered the identification process significantly, points out the outlet.

As the investigation progressed towards the evening of Monday, a search warrant was executed by the NYPD in a Bronx residence, which led to the chilling discovery of additional human remains — this time in the kitchen.

Despite an exhaustive inquiry, no arrests have been made so far in relation to these macabre events and the pursuit for answers is still ongoing.

The NYPD continues its relentless search, gradually piecing together a dark puzzle that began with a flame-ridden early morning on a sidewalk in Yonkers.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the case, possibly in an effort to protect the integrity of the investigative process, and it is clear that more answers are still to be unveiled.
