In a recent turn of events, Kamala Harris has brought David Plouffe, a new adviser for her campaign, on board. Barely catching his breath, Plouffe, without losing any time, began raining down criticisms on Donald Trump, the former president. This happened not too long after Trump made the decision to withdraw from a debate against Harris that was slated for the 10th of September and had been planned to air on ABC.
According to Plouffe, this move is indicative of Trump’s notorious tendency to prefer being in his personal ‘cocoon,’ which is typically populated by his MAGA followers. In other words, Trump is said to enjoy surrounding himself only with those who agree with him, a telling sign of his apprehension to face differing opinions.
In addition, Plouffe managed to throw a subtle dig at Biden in process of his tweet. It was as if Plouffe was suggesting that Trump was only capable of debating people who were of a similar age as him, a subtle jibe to Biden who is four years older than Trump.
At the age of 81, Joe Biden, decided to step back from the presidential race post a disastrously poor debate performance that took place in June against Donald Trump, who is 77. This move showed the world the incapability and the lack of aptitude Biden possessed when it came to holding his ground during a debate.
Strangely enough, Donald Trump proposed an offer to debate with Kamala Harris, but on Fox News instead of on ABC as previously planned. This proposition was revealed on Truth Social, where Trump wrote, ‘I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th.’
Initially, Trump was to face off against ‘Sleepy’ Joe Biden in a debate airing on ABC, but, following Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race, necessary changes were made. This highlighted the fact that Biden was no longer a participant, a testament to his political frailty and inability to withstand political pressure.
Furthermore, Trump stated that he was involved in ongoing legal proceedings against ABC Network as well as George Slopadopoulos which, as per his explanation, generated a conflict of interest. In his eyes, this predicament posed yet another reason to avoid any association with ABC, and perhaps was also a convenient excuse to steer clear of any confrontation with Kamala Harris on the network.
