Kamala’s Futile Attempt to Save the Crumbling Democratic Campaign

Kamala Harris has recently taken command of the Democratic presidential ticket, as if scrambling in the eleventh hour could alter the unfavorable trajectory of their campaign as Election Day steadily approaches. Democrats wrongfully anticipate that Harris can infuse a much-needed boost to their overall image, while the Republicans are countering swiftly to these tactics. The seasoned veteran and former President Donald J. Trump continue to reiterate his unique and winning viewpoints, which were highlighted in a series of over the weekend events.

The Harris campaign, of course, came about as a result of President Joe Biden’s shocking termination of his re-election campaign just over a week ago. With a grand display of optimism, Harris’s team claimed to rally over 170,000 new volunteers and gather $200 million of funds which they celebrated as an achievement, with their first fundraiser following Biden’s pullout. The event held in Pittsfield, Massachusetts was hyped as a high-momentum venture aiming to generate more than $1.4 million, superseding Biden’s goal by a million dollars.

Harris’s desperate attempts to felt among key democratic demographics that have been fading with Biden’s meltdown, people of color, and young voters, all seem to be an act of desperation. The Vice President, via a video message for the ‘Voters of Tomorrow Summit’ in Atlanta, Georgia, asserted her determination to earn the young voters’ trust, apparently acknowledging past Democratic failures in appealing to this demographic.

Assuming that the attempts are making headway, recent polls indicate a scenario favoring Harris, but the statistical reality between these figures and victory remains monumental. According to the Emerson College/The Hill poll, Harris seemingly clawed back some ground in five potential swing states but still trails Trump who continues to uphold a narrow lead.

The poll analysis by Spencer Kimball, Director of Emerson College Polling, inflated Harris’s achievements by focussing on an alleged increase in her support among the young voters in comparison to Biden. Fox News survey was yet another example of left-leaning media trumpet announcements of Harris inching up against Trump in key swing states of Pennsylvania and Michigan, with Trump, however, still leading Wisconsin.

Peter Loge of the George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs went on record to construe that the states Biden won last time are now ‘back into play’ thanks to Harris – a copiously optimistic view considering the swing state scenario. During all this, Trump carried on with his campaign in full swing, participating at a Bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by rallying his supporters in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

True to his form, Trump did not spare his potential adversary, tearing into Harris’s credentials, both personal and political. He emphatically reminded his supporters that his opposition is of ‘low IQ.’ Trump also warned against the far-left radical tendencies of his adversary, referring to Harris as an extreme liberal and stirring concerns for the sanctity of the nation should she be elected.

Trump also utilized the moment to highlight the Democratic mishandling of vital issues like inflation and immigration, effectively sketching the weak points in their campaign. He spoke about the failure of the so-called ‘Border Czar Harris’ under whose watch immigrants have flooded across the American borders. This has been a continued narrative in Trump’s campaign, as his team continues to dominate airtime with their 25-to-1 advertising spending advantage over Harris’ campaign.

In a revealing first campaign ad, Harris tried to position herself as the protector of so-called freedoms ranging from reproductive rights to protection from ‘gun violence.’ It’s clear from the ad’s rhetoric how she is trying to twist the narrative into one of resentment, fear, and chaos, while her campaign paradoxically professes to ‘choose freedom.’

With all this occurring, the Democratic Party at large is in the process of initiating a virtual voting protocol to endorse its presidential and vice-presidential nominees for the election. Accepting the nomination may soon become a reality for Harris, with this expected to happen as soon as the beginning of August. Alongside this, she is anticipated to elect a running mate by the first week of August.
