The campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris proclaimed that a whopping sum of $200 million had been raised in the week subsequent to the astounding step down of President Biden from the race, surpassing the meagre collection by the Biden campaign in the first quarter of the year.

However, just like many other things in politics, it remains a mystery as to how much of this alleged $200 million sum has actually been funnelled directly to Harris’s campaign as opposed to Democratic party’s allied committees. Nonetheless, the sum still manages to turn heads, even when compared with fundraising surges noted during the course of the 2024 presidential race.
Then again, on the Republican side, the campaign of former President Donald J. Trump set a remarkable precedent by generating near $53 million merely a day after his questionable criminal conviction in May. The size of their haul not only helped Trump outshine Biden for the month, but also managed to level out the serious financial edge Biden held until then.
