It’s nearly June and as we inch closer to the end of the month, more top recruits are scheduling official visits with the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff. You might be interested to know that a few players have recently publicized their intentions on social media.
I’ll give you a few names and some commentary about what this means for Miami’s football program.
June 2nd is the first date that has been set with scheduled visits from Ricky Knight II, cornerback from the North Palm Beach (Fla.) Benjamin School, Drelon Miller, wide receiver from the Silsbee (Texas) High School and Kamarion Franklin, defensive lineman from Lake Cormorant (Miss.) High School.
What do these players bring to the table that Miami could benefit from? Keep reading to find out.
At the Aiken (S.C.) High School on June 9th, Braylon Staley, a versatile player who can either play as a wide receiver or defensive back will be visiting the Miami Hurricanes. This is a great opportunity for Miami to tap into his talent and see if he could be a good fit for the team.
On June 16th, Justin Scott, defensive tackle from St. Ignatius in Chicago, Illinois, will be visiting Miami alongside Jericho Johnson, defensive tackle from Armijo (Calif.) in Fairfield. These talented players possess some unique skills that fill in potential gaps in Miami’s football program.
On June 23rd, Judd Anderson – a quarterback from Gray (Ga.) Jones County will be visiting alongside some other notable names that Miami should be keeping tabs on. Isaiah Thomas, safety from the Clearwater Academy International in Florida and Juan Minaya – another talented Offensive Lineman from Paramus Catholic in New Jersey will be making an appearance along with a few others. Keep reading to learn more about how each of these players could make a difference for Miami.
Jaylen Heyward might be a Georgia Commit but if he prefers Miami after his visit, anything can happen. During the June 23rd visit, the Rockledge (Fla.) High School safety will be taking a look at the potential of joining the Hurricanes’ team. The Miami coaching staff has made it clear that they are interested in trying to bring talented athletes into their scouting network regardless of what state they come from.
Joseph Ionata from Clearwater Calvary Christian and Chris Cole from Salem (Va.) High School are both still uncommitted and both bring powerful athletic abilities to the table. Cole could play as a safety, linebacker or nickel and could have an advantage when it comes to the amount of ground he can cover. All of the uncommitted recruits that will be making an appearance soon are 4-star or above types of talents.
June is going to be a very important month for the Miami Hurricanes. Recruiting professionals understand that this is a key period for finding and locking in the best talents available before the season starts. It’s this kind of strategic planning that has helped Miami compete with programs that are already accustomed to being in the College Football Playoff.
Justin Scott is one of the players who Miami is keen to get on board. He might be one of the more important recruits to visit the Miami campus thus far. Not many defensive linemen can move the way he does, despite his frame packing on over 300 pounds.
Kamarion Franklin is another highly sought-after talent that Miami is eager to add to their ranks. He’s a rare blend of length, size, and power. With an offer list that includes nearly every elite school imaginable, Miami is fortunate to have the opportunity to host him on campus. After his visit, the Hurricanes will have a better idea about how he can best fit into their program.
One thing I have noticed about Miami’s coaching staff is that they are relentless when it comes to recruitment. It doesn’t matter if a player is committed elsewhere, if they have the potential to make an impact with the Hurricanes, they will try to bring them to Coral Gables. Fans of the Miami Hurricanes should feel good about the future of their team when the coaching staff shows this level of commitment.
Miami Hurricanes fans should be excited to know that several talented players will be visiting the Hurricanes’ campus over the next month or so. If things go according to plan, Miami could land some key talent that could help take the team to the next level.
Jericho Johnson from Armijo and Judd Anderson from Gray will be visiting in the latter half of June. Both the players possess unique skills that could be important in filling gaps in Miami’s football program.
Isaiah Thomas from Florida’s Clearwater Academy International and Juan Minaya from Paramus Catholic in New Jersey have been making a buzz in the recruiting space. Miami is eager to see if either of these players would be interested in joining their squad.
Deryc Plazz from Jacksonville in Florida is also going to be visiting along with some others. Keep a close eye on him to see if he brings anything unique to the table that Miami could benefit from.
