Actor Super-Glues Himself To Starbucks Counter In Protest

James Cromwell was seen super gluing his hand to a Starbucks counter in a demonstration against vegan milk upcharges.

The “Succession” actor and animal rights activist was sitting on the counter at a Manhattan Starbucks on Tuesday in a video from PETA.

Cromwell, wearing a “Free the Animals” shirt, was criticizing the company for charging extra for nondairy milk options in its drinks.

“Starbucks claims that it wants to be more sustainable, but it discourages customers from choosing sustainable products,” he said.

“My friends at PETA and I are calling on Starbucks to stop punishing kind and environmentally conscious customers for choosing plant milks,” Cromwell added.

“We all have a stake in the life-and-death matter of the climate catastrophe, and Starbucks should do its part by ending its vegan upcharge,” he continued.

A representative from Starbucks said that PETA has been present in its stores numerous times without problems, reported The Hill.

The New York Police Department was called for additional support on Tuesday because of a risk to the protesters, as well as staff and customers.

Elizabeth Summers, a Starbucks spokeswoman, told ITK “We respect our customers’ right to respectfully voice their opinions, so long as it does not disrupt our store operations”.

Cromwell has seen getting his glued hand removed from the counter before exiting the store.
